Visual Art Instructor for the Guadalupe/Parkway Centers:
For over 8 years the Lubbock Arts Alliance has provided Visual Art instruction at the Guadalupe/Parkway Centers. Our classes have been taught by professional artist with a high knowledge of studio art, mediums, and art history. The Lubbock Arts Alliance holds high standards in teaching practices.
Instructor Responsibilities:
Planning lessons including two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks in accordance with Texas TEK standards.
Providing instruction and demonstration, and helping students achieve the lesson.
Ensuring the classroom is clean and supplies are put away after each class.
Instruct students in proper care and use of art supplies.
Take attendance each class.
Art Instructor Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred, but not required
Prior experience teaching Visual Arts to youth preferred, but not required
Demonstrate an excellent variety of art techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to supervise group work
Outstanding planning and problem-solving skills
Supportive/flexible disposition
Excellent classroom management
Instructor must pass a criminal background check
Art Instructor Schedule:
Classes will take place at the Guadalupe Center 123 N Ave. N and Parkway Center 405 N MLK Blvd.
Classes will start August 24, 2020 and ending on December 16, 2020.
Classes at Guadalupe Center will be 4:00pm-6:00pm
Classes at Parkway Center will be 4:00pm-6:00pm
Specific days of instruction (i.e. Tuesday/Thursday) will be a mutual decision by the instructor and the Arts Alliance.
Teaching services will be on a contract basis with a starting hourly wage of $25 for four (4) hours per week.
