Our health food company makes a wide range of dishes in a catering style environment. This commercial kitchen has a standing menu that makes food in large batches, then plates them into packaged meals to transport to other locations. We are looking for an ambitious Food Prep Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. Youll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Requirements and Responsibilities Include:
1+ years experience as a cook dealing with large amounts of food, preferred
knowledge in grilling, cutting, dicing, marinating, boiling, broiling, baking, etc,
Able to read and follow our specific recipe book
Understanding of various cooking methods.
Have speed accuracy and time management to execute large amounts of plates in a short period of time.
Must be able to understand simple math and conversion tables.
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
A team player with good communication skills
Patient, with an ability to stay positive under pressure
Requires a lot of physical activity.
Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours at a time
Must be able to squat and lift anything up to 40 lbs
Flexible hours
Strong organizational skills
Must be able to multitask
Graveyard shifts and early morning to mid afternoon shifts.
Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Be able to obtain a Food Handlers certification from the City of Edinburg
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Hours will vary:
Monday-Sunday
Example: 1:00 am to 9:00 am

Salary: $10.00 to $14.00 /hour
