Responsibilities:
Provide Speech/Language services as prescribed by the physician's orders.
Evaluate patient's expressive and receptive language skills.
Evaluate oral/motor integrity.
Plan and perform treatment program in accordance with prescription and evaluation findings, and in keeping with treatment objectives.
Develop augmentative communication systems when warranted.
Train patients in use of esophageal speech and/or use of electrolarynx when warranted.
Instruct family on language needs of patient and plan home treatment program.
Write evaluations for each patient when ordered by a physician.
Assist in conducting initial training programs of supportive personnel and in other in-service programs as deemed necessary.
Adequately represent the facility by following appropriate dress code and safety policies.
Attend in-service meetings, staff conferences, chart reviews, and seminars as directed.
Maintain a professional attitude in the treatment of patients. Maintain professional attitude and good rapport with other staff members.
Adhere to the code of ethics regulating practice of speech and language treatment as adapted by America's Speech/Hearing/Language Association.
