JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Community Development Grant Specialist

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Senior Manager of Programs & Equity

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The CDG Specialist responsibilities include all activities involving certification of participants and coordination of volunteers for the Community Development Block Grant program. CDG Specialist coordinates the distribution and certification of the application process. Works jointly with other CDBG agencies to assure that compliance with HUD guidelines of the CDBG and Food Bank RGV policies and procedures are maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains programs and compliance with contract requirements

Monitors all agencies including volunteers and staff at all food program sites.

Knowledge and interpretation of federal regulations for CDBG programs

Development, maintain and the addition of new agencies

Conducts yearly training for CDBG agencies in all rules, procedures pertaining to the Food Bank RGV, Feeding America, and USDA

Will work jointly with the CDBG sites to distribute food bags to eligible recipients at distribution sites.

Represents program at community functions and other meetings as needed.

Provides information by answering questions and requests

Collects monthly agency invoices from all agencies by the 5th day of the month

Compiles monthly CDBG reports and submit for reimbursement by the 15th day of the month

Prepares report for Senior Manager of Programs & Equity on the 5th day of the month indicating number of sites, families, adults and children

Makes referrals when needed

Maintains CDBG documents by filing in appropriate file folders

Maintains operations by following policies and procedures

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Evaluates existing procedures & recommends improvements to the Senior Manager of Programs & Equity

Performs additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Programs & Equity

QUALIFICATIONS:

Honesty, integrity and commitment to fighting hunger in the Rio Grande Valley.

Must have clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of FBRGV.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Personal experience in community service and an understanding of the role volunteerism

Computer knowledge or data entry experience required

Ability to politely be firm and decisive. Good judgment and discretion

Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel

Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision

Orientation to detail, accuracy and the meeting of deadlines

Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions

Proficient in English and Spanish

Possession of current Texas Class C driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle. Must have a clean driving record for at least three years prior to employment
