Job Description

Job Summary:
As a Data Engineer with First United Bank, you will report to the Lead Data Architect. You will be instrumental to develop and modernize our data architecture using a hybrid cloud strategy, tools, and technologies. You will work closely with Analysts and Developers to create and deliver the data strategy across the First United Bank’s landscape. You will help our analyst community to optimize data pipelines and models to deliver insights to key stakeholders.
You will also play a key role in our data governance program ensuring data objects and domains adhere to policies and standards for data quality, as well as meets linage and retention requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain data architecture framework, standards, and principles.
  • Design data pipelines to extract data from different on-prem and cloud data sources
  • Build data models to get relevant insights from data, operational efficiency, and other essential performance metrics
  • Ensure data quality monitoring for all inbound and outbound data processes.
  • Promote Test Driven Development (TDD) or like testing techniques to ensure quality.
  • Optimize existing data models and data sets to best support our Analytics community.
  • Meet with the business users to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Actively participate in change control to ensure the upholding of architectural standards and guidelines
  • Ability to capture business and technical requirements required by the Project Management Office.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, MIS/Information Management, Engineering or related field required. Masters preferred.
  • 3+ years in a similar role, preferably in the Financial Services industry.
  • Azure Cloud Services: Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Logic Apps, and Azure Synapse.
  • Snowflake Cloud is a plus
  • Object-oriented and functional script languages: Python, Scala, and C#.
  • Advanced SQL Server database experience with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, as well as PowerBI.
  • Big Data tools such as Spark, Snowflake, and Kafka
  • API Integrations using MuleSoft or other technologies
