The Position

Job Description

SUMMARY
This position is an in-office, onsite position in our McKinney, TX location. The SCCM/MECM Administrator provides configuration management support for hardware and software baseline control efforts. Maintains the baseline by creating processes and procedures and using configuration management tools. Recommends and maintains the hardware and software product life cycle. Primary job function is building and managing workstation images, as well as software deployment packages, utilizing SCCM/MECM. This position is also responsible for managing the ITSM and Antivirus systems. Works toward continual improvement in configuration management and automation of processes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

)
  • Building and managing workstation images/task sequences, as well as software deployment packages, utilizing SCCM/MECM is an essential function.
  • Maintaining hardware and software inventory and configuration baselines.
  • Produces builds of products for use in testing and production. Provides guidance in the selection process for new workstation hardware.
  • Identifies and implements ways to strengthen, streamline and automate configuration processes for imaging PCs and updating Operating Systems via SCCM/MECM.
  • Oversees patch management efforts for servers and workstations (desktops/laptops).
  • Experience in Zero Touch deployment and Light Touch deployment of workstations using tools such as Autotune.
  • Performs change updates and reporting.
  • Identifies, communicates, and implements changes to processes and procedures.
  • Trains employees to understand processes and procedures for build updates, deploying builds and how to provide feedback from roll-out of said builds.
  • Interacts with a collaborative team that supports a diverse environment.
  • Implements task automation and process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and efficiencies.
  • Provides assessments and measures to report on changes in configuration and impact on performance versus current baselines.
  • Assists the Manager in the development of department metrics to ensure compliance of standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Defines, develops, communicates, and implements standards, processes, and procedures. Also assists with defining departmental standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to enhance ITSM by adding to the Knowledge Base, processes and procedures providing input to configuration management and continuous improvement management processes.

  • Highly experienced professional who uses broad expertise, knowledge, and skills to resolve complex issues; contributes to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Provides technical leadership to oversee the SCCM/MECM environment.
  • Plans and manages project activities within project plan and/or provides input into the tasks in the project plan.
  • Acts as advisor to team and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Focus on both tactical and strategic activities for the team
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor for processes and procedures to improve department.
  • Performs other duties as requested by IT Support Manager, Director of Operations or CIO.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.

Education and Work Experience - Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or another related field required.
  • Two or more years of configuration management or related activities
  • Expert IT hardware and software knowledge.

Technical/Functional Competencies
  • 2 – 3 years of experience with the following:
  • Desktop Lifecycle and SCCM/MECM Image Development and Software packaging
  • Windows and OSX Operating Systems
  • Desktop imaging including Zero Touch Deployment such as Autopilot
  • Ivanti ISM and EPM knowledge preferred
  • Hardware break/fix as well as BIOS config, WOL, etc.
  • Active Directory/Group Policy
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation for network, hardware, software, printers, and VoIP phone systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking
  • Understanding of scripting languages or CLI tools such as Powershell preferred
  • Project Management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers by all forms of communication including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
  • Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules.
  • Takes initiative in development and completion of projects.
