Med-Surg/Telemetry is located on 4 Central and is an area of the hospital where special machines are used to help staff closely monitor patients. Patients are under continuous electronic monitoring while on a telemetry unit. This automatically communicates measurements (heart rate, heart rhythm, breathing and more) to a monitoring station for a medical professional to view and evaluate.Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist in patient care duties. Direct patient care is done under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of sound professional nursing practice to be delegated. The PCA will also perform other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained for.Education:High school graduate or equivalent. BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire or transferred to department.Training & Experience:Must have knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and be familiar with hospital policies and procedures. Computer Training will be completed as part of orientation.
