Responsibilities

State Farm is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our ET Claims Operational Reporting as a Java/Full Stack Developer/Engineer. This team supports customer and internal operations reports for our Claims Execution leadership and teams that are used for legal, regulatory, compliance, and other purposes. Additionally, we support Claim-related File Print, which represents the electronic documentation used by Claims Operations and Corporate Claims for litigation purposes. The new team member will contribute to the in-progress future-state architecture for Claims Operational Reporting products and applications. We are currently re-architecting and re-platforming looking to move significant portions of our code base to AWS.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners; understand business current and aspirational needs
  • Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories
  • Completes required coding to satisfy the defined acceptance criteria and deliver desired outcome
  • Leads solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
  • Assists in development of automated testing and supporting code as necessary
  • Utilizes agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
  • Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation
  • Exhibits DevOps mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset

Qualifications

Ideal Candidates will have the following technical skills and experience to be successful on the team:
  • Understanding of Object Oriented software design principles, design patterns, and code quality
  • Experience with Software Development using Java SE 8 or later
  • Strong Data skills (SQL, DB2 or other, Database concepts, and Stored Procedures)
  • Experience or an understanding of API development technologies; REST, JSON, Swagger, SOAP, XML, WSDL
  • Experience with Spring (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, or other Spring frameworks.)
  • Experience with web-based unit testing (JUnits, Mockito)
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery Pipelines(Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD, Pipelines, and security code scans)
