The Operating Managers (OM) primary duty is managing all aspects of the restaurant & bar operations to ensure quality standards of food and service are met consistently, management of approximately 25 team members including hiring/firing, development, promotion, optimizing profits and increasing sales.Â

And of course, wed expect any great Operating Manager at Twisted Root to do these things:

Manage all areas of operations for the Front of the House including human resources, profitability, and sales growth

Manage all areas of operation for the Back of the House including human resources, companys food & bar specifications and standardized recipes, cleanliness, storage and safety issues. Control wastage and spoilage.Â

Manage entire operation of restaurant during scheduled shifts, which include daily decision-making, staff support, guest interaction, scheduling, and planning, while upholding standards, product quality, and cleanliness. Manages staffing throughout shift including when employees can check out for the day. Provides coaching and development to all staff and implements performance management as needed. Ensures all employees adhere to the companys policies and guidelines. Performs line checks throughout shifts.ÂÂ

Ensures that restaurant is properly staffed to par, at all times using the companys hiring practice interviews for both management and hourly employees. Manages and schedules training as required.

Prepares reports daily, weekly and monthly which may include cashiers reports, daily sales reports, weekly labor reports end of the month reports maintenance reports, etc.

Prepares for and organizes various meetings, including training meetings, staff meetings, operational restaurant business meetings, and meetings with owners.

Ensures that proper cash handling procedures are followed with all cash-handling employees, from cashiers to supervisory staff. Balances cash on hand with end of day reports, petty cash, cashier drawers and in-house bank.Â

Manages all check-in orders ensuring proper specs and quality are adhered to.

Identifies operational opportunities and creates and implements plans to address these opportunities.

Manages all areas of restaurant maintenance. This includes but is not limited to scheduling, documentation, preventive maintenance, purchasing, and work directly with both in-house maintenance and approved outside vendor list.

Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

College degree is preferred. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.

Working knowledge of business software (Word, Excel, Social Media)

Working knowledge of POS & inventory systems

5+ years experience managing a team of 10+ employees

3+ years in an OM role of a restaurant or bar

2+ years work experience in a fast-casual restaurant

Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports

Must have reliable transportation

Must be eligible to work in the United States

Must agree to background check

Ability to deal with the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems

Must possess good communication skills for dealing with staff, customers and community

Ability to selectively & effectively hire, develop and coach others

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labor cost while Âmaintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities

Able to perform all functions at the restaurant level

Excellent judgment and informed decision making skills

Strong knowledge of basic Human Relations

Ability to interpret labor laws, personnel rules & regulations

Other things to know about this job

Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion

Position requires ability to proficiently perform all job titles and tasks as needed

Position may require work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operation of phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.

Reports directly to the owners of the business

Salary is negotiable depending on related work experience
