Coordinate large research relevant projects involving faculty and administrative staff across campus.
Establish and maintain relationships with key federal program officers, agency staff, clients and key industry representatives to facilitate researchers at UTSA.
Advocate for all UTSA researchers by facilitating transdisciplinary research and promoting their profile to internal and external stakeholders.
Provide leadership and oversight of collaborative, jointly funded research programs in conjunction with local and regional partners.
Develop and implement short and long term funding options for strategic and institutionally significant programs.
Coordinate applications for extramural funds to increase research sustainability across the ecosystem.
Evaluate current business processes for UTSA Centers and Institutes and develop best practices for operational and financial management and ensure compliance with UTSA’s Handbook for Operating Procedures – 10.03 Guidelines for Organized Research Units and UT System Rules and Regulations.
Lead review processes for new Centers and Institutes, coordinate and annual evaluation processes and work closely with new Centers’ and Institutes’ Directors to implement program improvement recommendations.
Support new Centers’ and Institutes’ Directors to build strategies for achieving institutional goals of the research and knowledge enterprise.
Perform other duties as assigned.
