job summary:

We are hiring a Sr. Data Architect/ Engineer for a 6 - 12 month project to assist with a large data transformation initiative.


Candidates must have be very skilled with creating data pipelines, data modeling, and analyzing data sets along with the following skills:



  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, science discipline, or similar
  • 8+ years experience with SQL, data modeling design and implementation
  • Sr. level experience as a data architect that can fullfill the need of engineer and business analyst responsibilities (having a business analyst background and evolved into data architect would be ideal)
  • 4+ years experience working directly with subject matter experts in both business and technology domains
  • Experience building data structures to support analytic tools such as Tableau, Datameer, R, or similar
  • Nice to haves include:

    • experience with Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google
    • Snowflake
    • Python, Java, or any other object oriented programming language (not development though)

responsibilities:


  • Design and implement data pipelines, data models and large data sets
  • Interface directly with business and systems subject matter experts to understand analytic needs and determine logical data model requirements
  • Work closely with data architects to identify common data requirements and develop shared solutions
  • Develop close collaboration with senior analysts and data owners across multiple business domains
  • Support data model and data pipeline solutions in production

Skills and Experiences:



  • Big Data tools experience with Spark/Hive/Impala
  • Datawarehouse experience with Teradata/Netezza/Greenplum/MPP Databases or Hadoop Data Lake Experience
  • Cloud Experience - AWS, Azure, or Google - Nice to have
  • Build Data PipeLine/ELT/ETL using JAVA or Python or Linux scripting skills
  • strong data warehouse and ETL background
  • Advance SQL programming capabilities. Hive/Impala or Snowflake preferred
  • excellent background in preparing data for analysis and reporting: creating analytical datasets and working with others to define simple to use data models (i.e. star schema)
  • Experience with analytical tools for data discovery & modeling, visualization, and analysis
  • Success in a highly dynamic technology demand driven environment with ability to shift priorities with agility
  • Ability to go from whiteboard discussion to code
  • Willingness to explore and implement new ideas and technologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
