Technical Project Manager

Location: Iowa City, IA/Raleigh, NC/San Antonio, TX

Duration: 6+ Months

Job Description:
We are looking for a strong project manager that can take the lead on an enterprise project ensuring effective delivery and execution providing end-to-end guidance from solution design and requirement notification to final customer acceptance. You will represent the I&O organization in interactions with internal customers and peer teams across multiple Pearson organizations.

  • Leverage agile frameworks to plan, prioritize, and execute project
  • Evaluate upcoming project initiatives and engage with the appropriate parties to facilitate success
  • Prepares and completes risk and action plans
  • Manage the report on the financial progress of the projects.
  • Use tools and technology to make data driven decisions around projects and processes.
  • Create project plans and manage a matrix team of resources ensuring timely execution and delivery.
  • Reviewing and negotiating internal and external customer requirements and recommending best practices for existing Pearson offerings.
  • Identifying, documenting, negotiating, and managing scope change and costs within technology projects.
  • Facilitate meetings and reviews with a high degree of professionalism, work ethic and integrity looking out for future roadblocks/issues
  • Evangelize cloud operation best practices
  • Serve as project point-on-contact
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain standards
  • Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needed communicating impacts

Minimum Required Skills:
  • Experienced in relationship-building with the ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project commitments and processes and set expectations to achieve quality solutions driving actions through to resolution
  • Ability to incorporate technical and business knowledge in the analysis of product or project solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to effectively present technical and non-technical information to internal customers and senior management.
  • Skilled and experienced at breaking down silos, negotiating conflict and problem-solving leading change using positive and collaborative methods
  • Understand and influence integration of business strategies into technology
  • Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting

Minimum Education Required:
  • 5+ years of experience in an enterprise environment
  • 5+ years of experience facilitating the development and implementation of business initiatives and projects, based on management goals and objectives
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical project management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Agile certification
  • Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud hosting practices and platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with enterprise level data center implementation projects
  • Experience supporting customer facing, high-volume, mission-critical applications strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and communicate technical designs, project issues, and project status is required.
