Purpose: To program jobs according to customer requirements in the most timely and cost effective manner.
Reports to: Programming Manager
Responsibilities:
Read customer drawings including tolerances to ensure programs written will produce good parts
Write programs for each job as directed by the Programming Manager
Decide which machine would be best to run a given job
Decide on cutting tools and speeds and feeds based on material used
Create a Blue Book for each part which contains instructions, tool lists, illustrations, etc., to help the machinist make the part
Troubleshoot programming on the shop floor
Be available to machinists for questions regarding jobs they are running
Run program through our verification software (Vericut) if deemed “high risk” to verify NC code
Ensure quality as it relates to programming
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma, GED or 3 years’ shop experience
Basic Skills Required:
Read and write English
Read drawings, travelers to determine customer specification
Proficiency in shop math
Proficiency in Mastercam
Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, etc.
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of cutting tools used to cut various alloys
Knowledge of basic machining
Knowledge of CNC equipment
