Full-time Voice and Data Technician
We are seeking a dependable and knowledgeable Voice and Data Technician. You will assist and/or lead sizable jobs with the installation, termination, and testing of various types of voice and data cables as well as security/access control equipment.
Ideal candidate MUST have experience working with various cables that include, but are not limited to: twisted pair, coax, Category 5, Category 6, single and multi-mode fiber optic cables. Cable installation includes: pulling, placement, terminating, testing, and labeling IDF/MDF, rack install, fiber termination and testing experience is an added perk.
Responsibilities:
Supervise installation and maintenance of communication systems.
Test and adjust voice and video configurations to minimize communication disruptions.
Maintain oversight of small site work which may include supervision of assistants.
Run and terminate cables for communications systems effectively and neatly, with appropriate markings/identifications to client standards.
Pulling and routing CAT5 or CAT6 cable in a new construction and existing structure commercial environments.
Terminating data jacks.
Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks)
You MUST be comfortable working from a ladder (6' or greater) and/or various types of lifts.
You must be punctual and able to meet client deadlines over long periods of time or on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
Previous 1+ years experience in telecommunications, voice and data technologies, fire and safety alarm systems, and fiber optics
Familiarity with telecommunications equipment
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail
Understand color codes
Work efficiently under minimal supervision
Must be able to read blueprints
Ownership of basic telecom tools: Punch down, snips, wire strippers, Hard Hat, Boots, Safety Glasses, etc.
Travel and overnight stays will be required a lot, but hotels and per diem are provided by company
Work truck will be provided and stocked with ladders and all materials needed for jobs
Needs to be available to work nights (in-town and out-of-town)
Needs to be able to be on-call certain times in case an emergency ticket comes in
Needs to be able to work at least 40 hours a week or more
Needs to be able to work in big-box stores
Need a valid Driver's License
MUST be able to pass drug and background checks
MUST have access to a Smartphone
$13.00-20.00/hour depending on prior experience
