Los Olivos Market continues to expand their food offerings and now requires a Prep Cook to prepare food for our guests and participate in the expanding kitchen operations.
Job Title: Cook
Responsibilities and Duties:
Sets up workstations daily;
Measures ingredients and prepares them in accordance with defined recipes;
Washes, peels and cuts ingredients to use in different menu items;
Cuts and portions meats according to recipe proportions;
Prepares different types of food from the menu;
Makes stock soups to be used during cooking process;
Portions the food and prepares the dishes for plating;
Distributes the plates to be served to the appropriate server;
Packages carry-out food for guests;
Accepts or rejects ingredients from food suppliers based on appearance and quality;
Make purchases at local stores for items not available by delivery service;
Notify kitchen manager when inventory levels for kitchen items are low;
Participate in inventory counts ;
Cleans and sanitizes the working surfaces, tools, utensils and working area;
Supervises the food temperature to insure the ingredients are kept at the appropriate temperature;
Follows all rules and guidelines of licensing entities.
Minimum of 2 years experience as a prep cook in a restaurant or hospitality environment where food is prepared from scratch;
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen;
Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils;
Ability to follow verbal instructions;
Ability to follow written guidelines for menu items;
Ability to identify potential new menu items and to adapt to changing menu requirements;
Must be a team player, but also self-motivated, driven and passionate about their work;
Must be able to work well under pressure.

Salary: $10.00 /hour
