Prep/line cook wanted for a locally owned and operated late night restaurant/bar in Downtown San Marcos. You must be available to work 40 hours per week. Typical shift time is 5:30PM-10PM Monday-Sunday, some flexibility in scheduling; with Friday and Saturday availability needed, as well as occasional late night availability if needed.
Line Cooks also needed for late night 10PM-3AM Wednesday - Saturday
ABILITY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AND EXECUTE THE VISION OF THE RESTAURANT
1. Proper standards of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene are always followed.
2. Knowledge of food storage, handling, and preparation techniques.
3. Adhere to all occupational, health and safety standards.
4. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
5. Prepare items on the menu to exact standards.
ENSURE THAT THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF FOOD STORAGE, PREPARATION, SANITATION, AND CLEANLINESS ARE MAINTED THROUGHT THE KITCHEN
1. Compliance with food control procedures when preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing foods.
2. Display safe operation of the oven, stove, grill, flat top, salamander and fryer; and exhibit safe knife skills.
3. Setting-up and breaking down work station.
4. Plating and serving food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
PERSONAL / PHYSICAL STANDARDS
1. Must be dependable, honest and punctual.
2. Must be quick and focused with an eye for detail and presentation.
3. Ability to prioritize, paying strong attention to detail.
4. Effective communication skills, works well in a team environment. Must be good with the public and co-workers.
5. Must be self-motivated and proactive.
6. Personal hygiene and cleanliness must be a priority.
7. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; lift up to 40 lbs.; be comfortable working on feet for more than 8 hours a day, if needed.
