Strong client-side web development skills
Strong server-side web development skills
Strong understanding of databases as they apply to mobile and web applications
Basic understanding of accessibility issues on the web
Ability to analyze and develop software in multiple languages and environments
Ability to read, evaluate, and criticize code changes made by others
Ability to translate non-technical user requests into technical requirements
Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions
Ability to present complex material to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to contribute to design and strategy discussions
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of modular/layered software engineering practices
Understanding of promises and other asynchronous techniques
Experience connecting with RESTful/Graph APIs or other web services
Experience creating RESTful/Graph APIs or other web services
Experience creating fully accessible web applications
Experience creating fully responsive web applications
Experience with server-side javascript development (Node)
Experience with component-driven templating such as React or Marko
Experience with configuration management tools such as Docker and Ansible
Experience working with and contributing to open source projects

Job Description Overview
We are looking for an entry-level DevOps engineer with an interest in Node/React to support our applications. You'll divide your time between developing new software for the university, maintaining and updating existing services, and creating API integrations with other applications.

To handle that complexity, we keep our configurations in source control with tools like Ansible and Docker. We like open source, open APIs, and open-mindedness. About You
We're looking for someone with a good understanding of the modern web and its denizens. Someone with the motivation to stay on top of new trends, write maintainable and re-usable code, update best practices, and figure out the best way to help the most people. Most of all you should be a talented developer who can get comfortable in any technical environment.
Job Duties
Develop features and fix bugs for a variety of services
Participate in the creation of new applications
Architect and design new software for small projects
Create integrations between major applications
Create and maintain server configurations in source control using tools like Docker and Ansible
Participate in design and strategy meetings
Work closely with our design and support teams to create the best possible interfaces
Stay up to date on best practices, advise others with what you learn
Occasionally present or suggest topics to improve our team awareness and practices
Maintain documentation on project details, integration points, and routine tasks
Additional Information
If selected for an interview, applicants will be required to complete a short take-home programming assignment.
