Job Title: Transportation Manager - Inbound
Reports To: Director of Transportation
Provide routing and scheduling of all inbound freight. This role owns the strategy and execution of 3PL outbound freight. Accountable for inbound and 3PL transportation spend. Oversee daily management and execution of all purchased transportation services for inbound shipments to minimize cost and maximize service across all channels. Oversee daily management and execution of outbound shipments for our 3PL customers. Ensures the quality, accuracy and timeliness of deliveries are met as set on KPIs. Provides leadership and manages performance across all levels of shifts and is a member of the distribution management team. This role is also responsible for business process improvements and KPIs.
This role plans all required inbound activity by considering multiple business performance factors (ie: open orders and staged shipments reports, carrier schedules, expedited freight requirements, department productivity and back-log, etc.). Constantly works to maximize shipping accuracy, on-time delivery, and service-to-cost ratios.
Manage the 3PL outbound shipments and oversee the inbound freight.
Acts as the intermediary and primary point of contact for inbound shipments.
Conduct period audits of shipping documentation.
Works with operations/distribution and fulfillment teams on forecasting and demand planning.
Collect and analyze pricing structure and implement actions to meet goals.
Responsible for the daily activity and performance of all inbound operations.
Establishes performance stands and KPIs.
Works with groups outside traffic and distribution to resolve issues.
Monitors, tracks and resolves shippingconcerns, driving issues to problem resolution.
Develops and/or improves procedures for inbound operations. Look for opportunities for improvement.
Responsible for communications with managers and staff.
Route, Schedule, Coordinate 3PL shipments and Communicate the information.
Review Routing Guides and/or contact customers to determine routing.
Schedule the shipments with the carrier.
Create bills of lading for 3PL as needed.
Pass the BOLs off to be entered into FTS and scanned and sent to 3PL customer for the day.
Scan the BOL into electronic file and name appropriately.
Ensure they are filed with all pertinent notes.

Customer Service Internal and External
Work with the 3PL Director(s) and floor to ensure all shipments are ready for shipping.
Adhere to processes and cut off times.
Reply to 3PL emails that pertain to the Transportation Dept.
Other Essential Duties
Ensure UPS Close Outs and transmittals are completed daily.
Invoice approvals and corrections as needed are being completed.
Tasks as needed and requested by Transportation Director.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
Minimum of 4-6 years transportation experience including, logistics, distribution and/or supply chain management experience, Parcel, LTL, TL and ocean container modes of transit. A must is experience
in high volume warehousing and distribution operations.
A bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience in supervising employees.
Ability to work occasionally weekends.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills and ability to think through complex issues.
Solid computer skills: MS Office, outlook, word, excel.
Strong attention to detail organizational and prioritization skills. Common sense and follow-up is a must.
Solid ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
Familiarity with domestic and international shipping methods and regulations.
Experience with transportation regulations and processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, reliability and accountability.
Demonstrate teamwork respectful actions toward others intra dept and inter dept.
Knowledge with full truck load brokerage, LTL and small parcel.
Knowledge with other modes of transportation and freight / logistics extremely helpful.
