Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and development experience required

Advanced Microsoft Suite Skills, budget preparation and report development utilizing Excel

Superb written communication skills

Expertise managing a complex, deadline-driven process involving many different stakeholders

Knowledge of the higher education funding landscape and priorities preferred;

A basic knowledge of fund accounting;

Experience creating data driven reports and narratives

Ability to give, receive, or share thoughts, ideas, perspective, and data to create shared understanding

Ability to manage time and multitask effectively to meet deadlines

Ability to function in an environment of quickly evolving processes and ideas

Ability to intake diverse perspectives, filter and incorporate information from various sources.

Ability to gain and maintain the trust and confidence of others and the organization through consistency and reliability

Self-motivation and the ability to translate strategy into daily work plans

A collaborative temperament and ability to work closely with team members

Job Description

The position will work under direct supervision of the Associate Vice President to support the mission of the Technology Innovation Office (TIO). The Grant Writer [GW] will research and develop grant proposals. The GW will manage post-award administration of grants, contracts, and gifts. Establish firm and positive relationships with members of communities where Technology Innovation Office is conducting research and development. Engage in outreach and collaborate with the Division of Information Technology Marketing and Communications team to promote and facilitate activities associated with TIO.

Job Duties

Grant Proposal Development

Writes highly competitive proposals that address public and private funder interests in alignment with the TIO mission. Writes, organizes, edits, and submits grant applications in accordance with grantor requirements and deadlines, and monitors and tracks status of proposals. Researches foundation and public opportunities and works with the TIO AVP to assess fit for institution's mission and strategic plan. Assembles all pertinent grant material necessary for final submission. Executes the grant strategy and solicitation plan that supports the institution's mission and strategic objectives. Develops proposal budgets.

Engagement

Act as a liaison between the University community, research coordinators and the TIO. Engage with community leaders and stakeholders where the Meadows Center has ongoing research and programmatic activities to facilitate efficient completion of grants and to identify new research opportunities. Completes annual competitive and non-competitive renewal applications for funding. Partners with Grants and Contracts staff to complete project amendments, including updating scope of work and budgets.

Partnership Development and Management

Form partnerships with non-profit organizations, state and local government agencies, and potential funders to increase capacity of The Technology Innovation Office and its programs. Work with University community to establish rapport with a variety of entities, agencies and other universities. Work as a team member on all tasks. Interact courteously with members of the community. Establish rapport with a variety of clients. Public speaking engagements.

Communications and Outreach

Work closely with the TIO and DOIT leadership to assist in addressing innovation and outreach priorities of the Technology Innovation Office. Works with TIO and DOIT leadership to help market promote innovation challenges, and outreach projects.

Reporting

Works in collaboration with appropriate staff to coordinate reporting of performance data to funding sources and external partners. Works collaboratively to ensure the timely and accurate submission of required reports

Grant Management

Provide grant management support to staff to ensure successful coordination of grant funded activities and projects; and ensure grant funds are used for appropriate purposes and within specified deadlines. Develop and maintain comprehensive organization and domain-specific knowledge by maintaining up-to-date records of the TIO programs and services; outcomes and impacts; budgets and financial needs; growth strategies; brand and organizational culture; and significant research, reports, statistics, policy, and philanthropic developments.
