What you are good at

The Retirement Business Services Technology (RBS) team provides product and application-based design, development, testing, deployment and production support to the Retirement Business Services business units. Particularly in support of web, trustee, custodial, recordkeeping and compliance products for Schwab Corporate and Retirement Services third party provider retirement product and compliance offerings. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem solving skills who can contribute in a highly collaborative culture and agile team environment. The ability to deliver innovative, low cost, reliable solutions is key to success in this role. Our Software Development Engineers are driven to learn, grow, and continuously contribute to evolving the Schwab experience and technology.
  • Perform full stack development building software systems using existing, and modern technologies for web, mobile, and native cloud applications with the goal of achieving maintainability, availability, scalability, and security.
  • Perform application testing, validation, and documentation.
  • Mentor the team with periodic code reviews, trainings, and development standards
  • Troubleshoots business, production issues, and suggest opportunities for improvement.
  • Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.


What you have

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field OR related practical experience 4-5 years' plus of professional experience in software development with experience in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C# or Java or C (C# preferred for this opportunity).
  • Experience in web development technologies like HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript (ReactJS, AngularJS or VueJS), Java/J2EE, .Net full stack or .Net core, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, (AWS), Angular 4.x (TypeScript), RESTful WebServices, MicroServices, Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to fully support all development phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) requirements, robust design, and implementation
  • All aspects of testing (unit, functional, integration, end-to-end) Production implementation and support Participation in review and governance activities
  • Must be a critical thinker and solutions-oriented analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers and management Detailed oriented self-starter
  • Experience with agile framework and being a part of a scrum team.
  • Experience tuning and maximizing performance for high volume pages Understanding of patterns and practice
  • Ability to contribute to application and platform architecture and design.
