The Retail Web Technology (RWT) organization leads the development and maintenance of Schwab's premier digital platform for retail clients - individual investors just like you.

Our team is seeking a talented Technical Program Manager, who embraces being a technical leader and has a real passion for helping teams to build compelling interactive web applications using state of the art technologies. As our Techincal Program Manager, you will lead multiple agile teams which deliver features to Schwab's retail and mobile websites. In this role you have the opportunity to manage development efforts for new projects as well as ongoing maintenance tasks. You are the leader of several engineering initiatives, driving success through your direct and indirect reports and business partners. You manage application developers, technical analysts, and Scrum Masters, and work closely with architects and business project managers.

What you are good at

  • Lead and coordinate new initiatives to support the technical and business strategy of the organization
  • Plan the delivery of the multi-team initiatives and activities
  • Drive large, complex projects to completion and implement roadmaps, while championing business and technical goals
  • Manage interdependencies across a high number of scrum teams and organizations
  • Laisse with a diverse set of partners to ensure needs and expectations are met
  • Work across specialized business and technical partners to broker decisions and negotiate trade-offs
  • Distill complex information for business partners
  • Communicate effectively at an executive and team level
  • Mediate and resolve issues, maintain a strategic focus when making decisions
  • Demonstrate good judgment regarding decisions and issues with complete information
  • Provide supervision and direction to project teams to ensure execution
  • Ensure quality and evidence of project documentation
  • Understanding of Agile processes, team velocity and the ability to forecast progress accordingly
  • Collaborate across Design, Development, QA, Operations, and Governance teams to help remove roadblocks
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal technical and legal teams to manage relationships and contractual agreements


What you have

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of IT project experience in technical, project, and offshore vendor management capabilities, that includes managing multiple large, complex and multi-functional projects
  • 7+ years of people leadership with scrum master experience with software engineering teams
  • 5+ years of Agile experience, running medium/large complex projects with multiple dependencies through planning, implementation, release, and support
  • 5+ years of professional experience leading teams that build distributed/scalable web applications using technologies like Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, HTML5, CSS, PCF, MongoDB, and Redis
  • 3+ years of experience in the Financial Services Industry
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment across multiple locations and time zones
  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, execute, and maintain strategic goals and metrics
  • Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology and trends in application development, testing, and deployment, business intelligence, and infrastructure support
  • Good knowledge of the Atlassian and/or Microsoft suite of development tools
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member of a fast-paced and focused team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
