Schwab Asset Management Solution (SAMS) Technology is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for company's use of information technology including all communications, operations and client and business applications.

SAMS Technology is aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management Solution which is the investment advisor for Schwab's proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab's exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™. This role is within SAMS Technology Data organization that enables Data & Analytics capabilities to support various use cases across several business units like Fund operations, Risk & Compliance, Sales and Marketing.

What you are good at

As a lead Developer/Engineer in Python you will be developing business software solutions with a "test-first" mindset. We are seeking a candidate who understands automation and work to develop frameworks and enhance code-based test automation suite resulting in completely automated development lifecycle coupled with CICD as it is vital to maintaining agility over time. As an engineer understands and can help educate others on the merits of ATDD of BDD as well as techniques for implementation in a data-centric environment.

The individual should have an interest in data quality and building test services for Data & Analytics applications. Individual should be passionate about changing technology landscape and motivated to work outside of their comfort zone. Also important is their ability to remain open minded when dealing with ambiguity and adversity.

As a integral member of our Scrum team, you are expected to be cross functional to work on any task needed to complete story work. Although this is primarily a automation testing framework services developer/engineer role you are required and willing to contribute to any task preventing the team from delivering on team commitments to the business. This may include data mapping, requirements refinement, data validation, documentation, data engineering technical tasks, etc.

The Data Technology Team is in the middle of a multi-year effort to build out a critical components of an overall strategic Data Platform.

What you have

This role requires a highly motivated and experienced developer with pride of ownership reflected through clean application design, code quality, a disciplined software development/engineering approach, and accountability for delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • At least 4 years' experience developing applications using Python
  • Experience developing code-based automated test frameworks and test suites using Python, focusing on a test involving web services, ETL/data processors, event-driven messaging or message queueing
  • Full stack development experience including SQL, XML, REST, etc.
  • Strong ability to design, code, and debug applications in various software languages
  • Experience or knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Experience or knowledge of database design and development
  • Experience or knowledge of one of the following. Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience or knowledge of Control M and SQL Agent schedulers preferred
  • Experience or knowledge of Informatica a plus
  • Experience or knowledge with Atlassian Tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence and Bamboo) preferred and Zephyr Test a plus
  • Experience testing complex systems related to data management and distribution
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment planning and executing using a test-first mindset
  • Experience implementing fully automated data flows including file acquisition and staging as well as automated system input and output comparison
  • Experience writing code to automate file movement operations over multiple transmission protocols (e.g. SMB, FTP, SFTP, Object store etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with complex XML and XSD data structures including parsers, XPath and XQuery
  • Experience with database-centric testing concepts, e.g. table-to-table or file-to-table mappings and comparisons
  • Ability to interact and communicate successfully with business partners and technology teams
  • Strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in Investment Management or Financial Services a plus


Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or similar area of study

Colorado Compensation

Target Total Compensation - 110,000 - 201,600
