Senior Principal Software Engineer - QEMU/KVM Devops

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. What you'll achieve
As a Software Engineering Member, you will be a valued member of the ISG CTIO Future Growth Engines team exploring forward-looking technologies and architectures to be used in next generation data center products. We are seeking an individual with comprehensive embedded automation and toolchain development experience including QEMU Automation and Kernel Automation development experience. Excellent communications skills will be required to work effectively with technical leaders across the organization including CTO office members, advanced development engineering, product marketing, and solutions groups. The effort will explore innovations in next generation data center deployments including server and storage and the supporting infrastructure. This will be a hands-on role incubating new pathfinding and spawning proof-of-concept activities to develop architectural directions for future generations of data center infrastructures.

Candidate should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills with agility to adapt to technologies and processes quickly and ability to tackle projects that are loosely defined and be able to provide direction and structure that may evolve quickly based on learnings and new information. You Will:

  • Design and lead automation, CI/CD and tools to make a next generation KVM/QEMU simpler and more robust.
  • Work with upstream Linux and OSS communities on cutting edge computing platforms
  • Mentor team members in design collaboration, research and embedded environments
  • Be a key and active member of an agile team, collaboratively leaving a mark on the engine of infrastructure growth


Essential Requirements
  • 7-12 years of development experience
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Linux OS and C, rust, Python languages
  • General software development tooling, CI/CD and source-code management skills (Git, Concourse, Jenkins, Maven, etc.)
  • Experience with configuration management solutions such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.


Desirable Requirements
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related fields
  • Familiarity with upstream communities for Linux, Rust-VMM and Cloud Hypervisor
