Area Maintenance
Utah Recreation Company is hiring for exceptional individuals to fill our Area Maintenance openings! This is an exciting opportunity to work in the hospitality field while spending time outdoors and assisting campers.
ABOUT US: We are the new concessionaire for the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. We are contracted with the United States Forest Service to manage the campsites in this region and are a privately-owned company. WHAT THIS POSITION LOOKS LIKE:
Classification: Seasonal/Full-Time Position (typically May through October, depending on sites and weather conditions).
Location: Your workplace will be at one of our hundreds of campgrounds in one of the following Ranger Districts Evanston/Mountain View, Logan, Salt Lake, Ogden, Pleasant Grove, Spanish Fork, OR Heber/Kamas.
Wage: $12.00 per hour
Schedule: Weekends and holidays required Most sites will have two days off on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Daily hours determined by your manager.
ABOUT YOU:
Minimum of high school education
3+ years experience in related position
Knowledge of operating and maintaining heavy equipment
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and welding
Managerial experience preferred
Strong decision-making and customer service skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to give direction and problem-solve
Must possess a valid driver license with a clean 3-year history and no DUI convictions in the past 5 years
Able to work outdoors in varying weather and conditions
Ability to either stay on site in a well-maintained personal RV or camper (preferred) or ability to commute to your site each day (applicants planning to stay on site will be considered first)
Reliable transportation
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General maintenance and repairs across your district
Oversee maintenance on all campgrounds in your district
Provide maintenance support to all camp hosts in your district
Participate in National Forest service inspections and complete tasks associated with inspections
Hazard removal
Water system start-up, maintenance, and monthly testing
Be a willing member of Utah Recreation Company/Basecamp Hospitality, performing all duties and functions as assigned to the best of your ability
Always perform the job in a safe manner and follow the company Injury and Illness Prevention Program
TRAINING AND SAFETY:
Work in a safe manner at all times. Know and understand the Work Safety Rules of the Company.
Personal Protective Equipment
All Maintenance Staff will use various tools and equipment on a daily basis. Footwear required shall be a work boot or a high-quality athletic shoe with non-skid sole providing ankle support. No open-toe sandals or flip flops will be allowed on the job. Protective guards shall be required for all appropriate occasions: including gloves, goggles, masks, long pants, and long sleeve shirts according to the nature of the task. Maintenance personnel will be knowledgeable in the safety practices and standards set by the company, relative to the work environment he/she operates in. He/she will also make it a duty to assure that all co-workers are working with those same safety practices and standards.
