This is primarily related to recruiting new students and creating partnerships and collaboration between the College of Engineering and High School principals, counselors and teachers. This position is integral to the work with programs in support of current engineering students, coordination of retention events, carried out by the Academic Affairs Team in the College of Engineering.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions: Develops and implements programs for recruitment of undergraduate students. Specifically,1. Plan and execute College recruiting events for prospective students focusing on rural and underserved communities, and provide support for the Rural Recruiting Initiative. Events might include Discover Engineering, Engineering Day, Red White and U and summer camps.2. Make connections with high school administrators to further the mission of the College of Engineering, coordinate with high schools to increase participation in high school engineering course.3. Day and some overnight travel in support of College of Engineering outreach activities including the Discover Engineering display.4. Work with Outreach Team on K-12 events, and create opportunities for faculty and current engineering students to present to high school math and science classes.5. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.PreferencesApplicants must have experience working with students and be committed to helping in their success. Prior experience working in University Admissions/Recruiting and/or experience working in High School education of students. Math, Science or Engineering background helpful but not required. Ability to lift 50lbs.
