Intermountain Donor Services seeks a full-time, non-exemptÂSurgical Recovery Coordinator with an advanced level of Operating Room experience to assist with the documentation and charting, preservation, and transplantation of donated life-saving organs. This position requires excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with various medical professionals in a professional and competent manner.
Under the direction of the Manager of Surgical Services:Â
1. Assumes responsibility for completing 24 hour "on call" functions, maintaining availability and performing assigned duties when on call, and performs expected number of "on call" shifts.Â
2. Assumes responsibility for all recovery aspects of the timely and effective recovery of organs; coordinates team members and tasks. Provides information and direction to team members;Â maintains documentation, and facilitates the organ recovery process.Â
3. Assumes responsibilityÂfor performing additional organ recovery roles as necessary; assists with abdominal, lung and heart preservation, Operating Room Assistant, and kidney pulsatile perfusion activities as necessary; ensuring adequate participation in education and training activities to perform all duties effectively. Assumes responsibility for maintaining medical materials management control for organ teams.Â
Qualifications: Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
Training/Education/Certification:
Nursing license or Physician Assistant licensureÂpreferred
Completion of a Surgical Technologist course (CST preferred), or equivalent education and/or experience
Industry certification (CTP, CPTC) within two years of hire
Required Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of organ and tissue transplant fields
Understanding of the operating room environment
Knowledge of related computer applications
Experience Required:
Minimum one year of Operating Room experience, as a scrub, circulator, or surgical assistant
Skills/Abilities:Â
Excellent public relations and interpersonal abilities
Solid oral and written communication skills
Attentive to detail and able to maintain accurate records
Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospital settings and within the differing guidelines of each institution
Works well under stressful conditionsÂ
