The Blacksmith position will focus on tasks related to shoeing the mules, including building winter shoes for the mules.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Blacksmith duties, primarily shoeing the mules
Achieve shoeing an average of 5-6 mules/day, .25-30 hours per week
Maintain the Blacksmith shop in a clean, safe and orderly fashion
Adhere to all safety and risk management policies and procedures
Wear all personal protective equipment required for the position
Maintain the appropriate supply levels for blacksmith shop
Overnight stays at Phantom Ranch may be required from time to time. Based on the mixed-gender nature of the Trail crews and limited employee housing at the bottom of the Canyon, employees may be required to share room accommodations with team members of the opposite sex. Employees will have access to gender-specific shower and restroom facilities, but will be expected to sleep in a co-ed bunk house.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer three years experience shoeing stock (manually)
Must have own tools
