The President's House Manager is responsible for the general organization and management of the College-owned residence of the President of Bennington College. The position manages all aspects of internal and external home management including housekeeping, dining, facilities, vehicle maintenance, procurement of supply services, personal services and special assignments. The Manager is the initial point of contact for the residence and communicates regularly with a variety of internal/external contacts to coordinate all aspects of the house management; advanced planning and coordination of services is essential to ensuring that the house is maintained and managed at the desired level. The President's House Manager is expected to conduct a daily walk-through of the house to assess its condition, with the level of care and attention to detail as one would expect to consider when assessing one's own home. The Managers assists with planning/execution of business/social events, working closely with the President's Office staff. During non-peak times, the position may support other residential spaces on campus and may provide administrative support to Buildings and Grounds. The position is part-time, 25 hours/week; schedule may vary. Qualifications: Candidates must have a broad understanding of and demonstrated experience with home management/operations including housekeeping/cleaning techniques and facilities management services; The position requires demonstrated customer service experience, exceptional organizational and communications skills and keen attention to detail. The ability to multitask is of critical importance. The position requires strong problem-solving and negotiation skills; candidates must evidence sound judgment; must handle confidential matters/information with discretion and must be able to successfully and positively interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.The position also requires experience in planning and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; flexibility is a must - candidates must be able to effectively adjust to changing priorities. The position requires the ability to operate standard housekeeping equipment including, among others, a vacuum, buffer, floor machine, wet/dry vacuum, washing machine and dryer. High School diploma and a minimum of two years related (home management and event planning/management) experience required. The position requires a current/valid driver's license and candidates must successfully pass a DDC-9 (defensive driving) test. The position also requires successful completion and acceptable results of a background check.
