Technical Product Manager

Vacancy expired!

Summary:
We're looking for an expert, curious, relentless, product enthusiast to join us at Faraday as Technical Product Manager.

What You’ll Do:
Product Managers at Faraday have a defined area of ownership: a “dev team” representing a thematic slice of our offering with distinct OKRs. You are responsible for every aspect of your product area; we organize these duties into three categories.
Strategic
  • Solicit input and gather feedback from internal stakeholders to inform product direction
  • Solicit and gather feedback from clients on product satisfaction and priorities (VOC)
  • Monitor product analytics to ascertain real-world usage
  • Assess product opportunities for TAM and revenue potential
  • Maintain forward-looking roadmap incorporating all of the above
  • Identify and propose opportunities to sunset product features
Technical
  • Product zealotry: fierce, constructive criticism defending us from mediocrity
  • Participate in iteration grooming to proactively identify high leverage opportunities and provide an independent assessment of technology possibilities and challenges
  • Provide initial technical assessments of requested work and suggested implementation outline
  • Work with engineering to determine effort and complexity of requested work
  • Define and document product “boundaries”: supported versus unsupported functionality
  • Train affected staff on all product change/new features—or delegate to the appropriate SME
Operational
  • Solicit product priorities from internal stakeholders
  • Synthesize stakeholder priorities to organize roadmap into iterations, seeking an appropriate demand balance
  • Facilitate grooming efforts to capture estimates, implementation details, etc.
  • Manage and maintain a predictable, reliable iteration calendar
  • Structure and launch iterations in project management software
  • Report on iteration progress and completion
  • Ensure downstream stakeholders receive adequate notification and communication on upcoming releases, including training as appropriate

About the team:
While Faraday is a product-led company, the Product team didn’t exist until Jan 2020 when we hired its first member. We’re now expanding this nascent group with an eye to establishing a robust product culture within Faraday.

About you:
Your qualities
  • A critical eye and tenacious desire for quality
  • Unflinching vigilance for incipient mediocrity in our product
  • Acuity and enthusiasm for brokering constructive dialogue between non-technical stakeholders and technical implementers
  • Patient impatience
You
  • Know the difference between the urgent and the important
  • Appreciate design patterns . . . and despise 1 or 2 of them
  • Can name your five favorite web products in under 30 seconds
  • Can describe decisively why they’re your favorite in under 30 minutes
Your qualifications
  • Formal or informal—but in any event considerable—experience with web products. Experience building and managing SDK/API products is a plus
  • Considerable experience and intimate knowledge of the software development lifecycle, client/server relationships., APIs, and other SaaS buzz words
  • Some technical chops: you’re not a bona fide coder, but you can grok simple SQL, make a git commit, or something else like that
  • College degree and/or evidence that you love to learn
  • Truly excellent written and verbal communication skills
If you think this is cool, don't rule yourself out because you're missing something from this list - we want people with imposter syndrome to apply. Faraday is looking to hire people who are eager to learn, grow their skillset, and come into their role with enthusiasm. If you want to make your mark on a growing startup and think this job would make you excited to show up to work everyday, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits & Perks:
Faraday holds high standards for all of our employees because we know they can deliver; but not without our support. We offer unlimited paid time off, various levels of paid parental leave, company-paid employee health benefits, an employee assistance program and a company -funded budget dedicated to fueling employee interests and backing the causes we all value most. We strive to empower our team members to pursue their passions and the activities that fulfill them outside of work, as well as arm them with the tools, guidance, and space to achieve their goals with Faraday.
