Involvedwith product design and development of new and existing products throughout theentire product life cycle

Focuseson core areas mechanical design and analysis, material science and enclosurerelated tooling and manufacturing processes, as well as computer-aidedengineering modeling and analysis.

Responsibilityfor coaching and supporting Mechanical Engineers in design techniques and thedepartmental processes

Alignsmechanical design approach with Senior Mechanical Design Engineers andExecutive management

EffectivelyHighlights all mechanical technical risks

Carriesout detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, simulation anddesign verification testing, as required.

Regularlyreviews departmental design processes and identify any updates required

Keepsup to date with the latest manufacturing techniques

Servesas technical lead in all thermal engineering related product development andcooling component selection activities

Worksclosely with internal board designers, outside vendors, third partyconsultants, and project managers to ensure project design and qualityobjectives are met Responsibilities

Refines product and mechanicaldesign concepts for manufacturability and cost savings

Works with a team to develop,qualify, and implement new products, and existing product improvements

Provide technical support to productmanagement, manufacturing, supply chain, and other functional groups

Participate in design reviewsconduct technical reviews and identify opportunities for product improvements

Evaluate, Plan, and execute physicaltests on mechanical and electro-mechanical components, including strain, shock and vibration, and electrical connectorperformance

Will advise, administer and performmechanical and material studies and projects ensuring adherence to soundengineering and scientific standards and principles

Develop and validate heat transferand fluid dynamics concepts through experimentation and observation usingscientific methods

Provideearly system design support with CFD tools to validate that design conceptsmeet cooling and airflow requirements

Evaluate system layout and powerconsumption, air flow direction, acoustics and mechanical testing

General design activities such asrequirements management, materials and component selection, Design of metal /plastic subassemblies and enclosures

Devise testing methods to evaluatethe effects of various conditions on particular materials and assemblies

Define and recommend changes to existingtest methods as required

Plan laboratory experiments to confirmfeasibility of processes and techniques used in the production of materials

Recommend materials for reliableperformance in various environments.

Reviewing designs and processes toconfirm the test specifications were followed

Provide sustaining engineeringsupport for designs that include components made by die casting, injection molding,stamping, or machining Skills and Qualifications

Requires math skills, mechanicalskills, creativity, and excellent communication skills in addition toapplicable work experience.

Relevant experience in statics and dynamics, strength ofmaterials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, computer systems, fundamental engineering science or physics

Experience with airflow testing,data acquisition, thermocouples, fans heatsinks and heat-pipes

System design engineering.

Performs Failure Modes and EffectsAnalysis (FMEA), and tolerance analyses.

Analyzes test results against thespecifications provided for the design.

Conduct research into the structuresand properties of materials, such as metals, alloys, polymers, and ceramics inorder to obtain information that could be used to develop new products orenhance existing products.

Detailed Description and Job RequirementsEvaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes.
