Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Senior Research Administrator Diversity Statement The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution. Posting Summary Oversee and conduct the administration of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics research awards, with a focus on financial and regulatory management. Conduct pre- and post- award sponsored research activities required of designated sponsored activities in a department with a high volume of both simple and large, complex awards. Contribute to the development of new research grant proposals. Provide post-award administration and management for research funds in line with institutional policy and sponsor agency requirements. Work closely with the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Research Leadership team, the Department Administrator, the Department Chair, and the Office of Sponsored Project Administration ( SPA ). Collaborate with SPA to interpret sponsor regulations and institutional policies for principal investigators and serve as the primary resource for department research administration processes. In collaboration with SPA institution-wide trainings, develop and lead training initiatives for department research staff. Create and leave a department PI research orientation program. Work independently with minimal supervision from the Department Administrator.Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor’s Degree in finance/accounting, biological sciences, or related field and two to four years of significant research administration experience required. Accounting and budgeting skills in managing complex financial accounts and funds, as well as knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles, required. Comprehensive knowledge of grants and contract administration and policies (especially NIH ), and ability to maintain is required. Ability to work independently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction required. as well as the ability to multi-task and utilize effective organizational and communication skills across broad and diverse subject areas.Desirable Qualifications Working knowledge of UVM financial and grant systems desirable, as well as prior exposure to clinical research.Other Information This position is 55% grant funded.Special Conditions Contingent on continued funding, Occasional overtime/weekend hours required, Bargaining unit position, A probationary period may be required FLSA Exempt Hiring Min (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary.
