Role Overview: The Prep Cooks at Woodbelly will work together weekly in our catering kitchen at 87 Barre Street to prepare our fresh, farm to table cuisine for the weekend’s events. We invite your excitement around preparing & presenting high quality, delicious food in a fun & creative way. The Prep Cooks will cook & prepare a variety of foods including meats, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads & salads, etc. using a variety of equipment & utensils according to the Daily Prep List.

The ideal worker has professional experience in a team environment & a willingness to follow and develop protocols; familiarity with the faced-paced & performative demands of the catering industry; an appreciation for style, culture, creativity & innovation. A Prep Cook is responsible for:

- Completing opening and closing checklists

- Referring to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties

- Preparing a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment

- Following & developing cooking protocols, food quality standards & kitchen rules, policies & procedures

- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, convection oven, flat top range and walk-in refrigeration equipment

- Promptly reporting equipment and food quality problems to Prep Lead / General Manager

- Informing Procurement Lead immediately of inventory shortages

- Using our Recipe Cards to prepare all dishes

Required Experience and Qualifications:

- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a professional kitchen

- Food Handlers Certification (Preferred)

- Willingness to follow recipes

- Willingness to provide feedback regarding recipes and procedure when needed

- Good knife skills

- Strong organizational & problem solving skills

- Comprehensive time management skills

- Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts as well as reach, bend, stoop & frequently lift up to 50 pounds

- Willingness to comply with all food safety & sanitation procedures

- Dependable & punctual

- Ability to communicate professionally & effectively with teammates, co-workers, & management team
