Vermont Tortilla Company, a producer of organic corn tortillas in Shelburne, Vermont, is seeking a Production Assistant to perform the tasks listed below. We are looking for someone that has a positive attitude, keen attention to detail, and a sense of humor. A love of food and farms is a big plus. Production Assistant:
Assist in all aspects of tortilla production, including but not limited to:
1. Intake of corn deliveries for storage
a. Ability to lift 60 lbs
2. Comfortable operating heavy machinery
a. Loading and unloading pallets of corn or tortillas in and out of truck
3. Tortilla production
a. Boiling corn (moving hot/heavy tank)
b. Grinding corn
c. Forming masa balls
d. Feeding masa into oven
e. Stacking cooked tortillas
f. Packing stacked and cooled tortillas
g. Storing boxed tortillas appropriately according to white board instructions
4. Keep daily lime and sanitation logs
5. Learning and practicing intricacies of oven and machine maintenance
6. Cleaning and maintaining an organized production space and overall facility
7. Local order deliveries as needed
