Position Hiring: Sous Chef
About Peter Havens:
We are a busy, fine dining restaurant in the heart of Brattleboro, Vermont. Peter Havens has been serving inspired French-American cuisine for 30 years. As a fine dining restaurant we have a very high standard of service across all of our staff and an expectation of consistency and excellence. Chef owner Zach Corbin and his team have worked hard to create an intimate restaurant with high standards and consistent food. A small dining room with just 10 tables and 10 bar seats offers a busy atmosphere every weekend. The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
Peter Havens is currently looking for an experienced cook/chef to join our team as Sous Chef. This is a full time job, 45 - 50 hours a week. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, self-motivated and hard-working. Basic knowledge of French cuisine is helpful but not necessary.
Applicants must be able to work nights and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and all major holidays.
Responsibilities:
Set-up and stock station with all necessary supplies
Follow recipes and verbal directions to prepare dishes
Prepare food for service
Prepare menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Clean up station and take care of leftover food according to health and safety standards
Receive and stock inventory
Maintain a high level of consistency
Maintain clean and sanitary work areas
Qualifications:
Previous line cook experience
Strong knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
Organization and cleanliness
Able to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and proactively work to meet those needs
Investment in customer and co-worker satisfaction
Strong attention to detail
Works well with others
Pleasant, dependable and reliable individual
