Created in 2009, Bean Crafters was born out of a love affair with beans. We wanted to craft tasty, affordable, locally and organically sourced products that were rooted in the simple but oh so nutritious and delicious bean. Bean Crafters was founded on the belief that what we eat and how it is prepared has a direct and powerful effect on our communities and the environment.
Interested parties could find themselves immersed in a commercial kitchen setting primarily doing food prep for Bean Burger production. The bulk of work we need done is getting in the mix in the kitchen and processing the britches off local produce two to three days a week for 8-10 hours each day on average. Other kitchen duties include dishes (and there's a lot of them), mopping, sweeping and general maintenance to keep the space sparkling. Good, hard, dependable, meditative work that amounts to thousands of pounds of local organic products nourishing the bellies of people from all walks of life each week.
Someone with culinary and production/hard work backgrounds will strike our fancy. The ability to lift 50 pounds and be on one's feet for 8-10 hours a day is a requirement. The work can be monotonous and repetitive. One must also be a team-player and have the ability to problem-solve and work on their own.
Competence is a must. One ought not be shy. If you whistle whilst washing dishes and can deal with a fusion of blue grass, '80s hits, yogic chanting, hip-hop and mariachi music in the workplace, please do inquire. If not, it still may be worth getting in touch. Just no Grumps please.
Compensation involves a base-pay of $15 that ratchets up quickly if a mutual decision is reached to keep you on board after an 12 day training period. That base is layered with some real good food to take home each week plus a daily, free lunch, paid-time-off accrual and a SIMPLE IRA plan.
