We are excited to be hiring a Project Engineer to serve a growing NE territory. This individual will be responsible for serving existing clients and helping to increase energy efficiency in the territory through delivery of project engineering, strategic energy management (SEM), and program management services. The Project Engineer works directly with our clients to assess their operations and identify opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.

The Project Engineer takes a consultative role, gathering data, creating analytical models of industrial systems, and writing feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects. This position requires a specific skillset to be effective – a combination of analytical ability, communicative personality, willingness to handle administrative details, and innate desire to be of service.

This is a full time, exempt position in our Burlington, Vermont office. The position requires approximately 25% travel, most of which is local. This could be a half day trip to a site or to a vendor, a full day trip to multiple sites, or an occasional overnight trip to a more distant area. Provide overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects

Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, statistical models, and/or generally accepted methodologies

Engage with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and to identify opportunities for energy efficiency

Foster and grow client relationships and identify opportunities for generating additional work from current clients

Write energy efficiency feasibility and project reports based on analyses and observations

Document performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment

Conduct Excel-based modeling and optimization of industrial systems (refrigeration, compressed air, fans, and pumps)

Commission existing systems or newly installed efficiency projects to maximize energy performance

Work within various utility and public demand side management programs

Participate in recruiting activities to promote industrial energy efficiency program participation

Assist with delivery of utility-sponsored strategic energy management (SEM) programs

Track program budgets and performance metrics for DSM clients

Be an integral part of a small team that is focused on growing its territorial activity and revenue. For this role, we seek candidates with a track record of excellent performance, including:

BS or MS in mechanical or chemical engineering

Exercise a combination of technical and interpersonal skills. The ability to listen, motivate, and influence is critical

Ability to manage and track a large number of projects and tasks simultaneously

Understand the roles, motivations, and needs of customers and successfully translate this information into short and long-term business strategies and initiatives

Strong engineering analysis skills (strong background in thermodynamics, including refrigeration and power cycles, is a plus)

Experience with energy efficiency with an emphasis on industry or agriculture

Project management of capital projects

Experience with electrical power systems, motors, variable frequency drives

Utilize an engaging speaking style and is able to adapt communication to various audiences (operations to executive staff)

Capacity to foster long-term customer relationships that will mature over time, proven customer engagement skills

Understanding of industrial technologies and energy efficiency best practices

Computer modeling of mechanical systems

Ability to assist with the creation of statistical regression models to track customer performanceCompensation & Benefits
