Office Administrator for the Fairfield Community Center

Do you like working with people? Are you organized? Are you interested in a flexible part-time position with a long-established non-profit focusing on serving the multiple needs of a rural community? The Fairfield Community Center now has an immediate opening for an interim Office Administrator. This part time job (15 hours/week) will be based in our East Fairfield office, and for the right individual, will have opportunity for expansion of responsibilities and hours once additional funds become available next year.

The Office Administrator will work closely with the board of directors, bookkeeper and other part time staff to manage day to day office and administrative work. We are looking for someone who is organized, self-directed, comfortable writing reports, using spreadsheets and has some experience with budgets and fiscal management. This job includes working with board and volunteers on fundraising, and communication with volunteers, committees and part time workers who run the Centers programs. Other tasks will include help with publicity of Center and Meeting House events, maintaining the centers web page and Face Book page, responding to phone and email, and some oversight of the Centers buildings and grounds. If possible, wed like to hire someone with familiarity with QuickBooks or other financial management systems but are willing to train the right individual.

The Fairfield Community Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization which, for over 26 years, has been providing services for youth, seniors, families and individuals in our local community. Our programs include a food shelf, weekly community meal, thanksgiving baskets, cooking classes and summer and vacation camp for kids, other youth and senior programs, events at our outdoor pizza oven and gardens, and music events at the Meeting House on the Green. We operate on a small annual budget which is supported by funding from the towns of Fairfield and Bakersfield, donations from local individuals and businesses, grants, Meeting House on the Green concert events, and fundraising events such as the Jig in the Valley and Sap Run Boogie.
