At NewsBank, our mid-size organization has big-time tech, big-data, and a big opportunity for a Systems/DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced, challenging and highly collaborative Technical Operations department. We seek dynamic candidates with the desire and skill to jump between projects and responsibilities.
If youre experienced with large-scale DevOps orchestration, can toggle between Windows and Linux with ease and enjoy customizing opensource software, this is an opportunity to utilize all of those skills and more. NewsBank operates NoSQL systems at a scale matched by few, and youll be part of the team responsible for scaling and maintaining them.
This is also an opportunity to leverage cloud technology for backup, DR and hybridized workflows. If youre tired of over-specialization, artificial barriers between technical departments, and want the flexibility to morph your role based on where your skills are needed most, youre the candidate were looking for.
Skill needed include:
- experience in scaling of virtual server environments
- DevOps Orchestration; expert-level Linux and Windows Administration
- fluency in at least two computer languages
- opensource customization
- experience or course work in networking
- building of monitoring/alerting/performance metrics platforms
- relational database administration (such as MySQL/MariaDB)
- willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- friendly, collaborative attitude toward co-workers
- ability to work effectively with remote teams using collaboration tools and without face to face communication
- willingness to work early or late for scheduled project rollouts
- desired experience in AWS and NoSQL
