Inspects parts, assemblies and material to ensure compliance to drawing or customer directed specifications

Uses inspection tools and gages, as necessary, in support of inspection process

Makes pass/fail decisions on inspected items

Reports non- conformances using the Non-conforming Material Reporting process

Records inspection results and substandard conditions on appropriate forms and in SAP system

Informs lead/supervision of abnormal situations

Participates in cross training initiatives as both a trainer and a trainee to develop skill bench depth

Ensures quality product utilizing Collins quality procedures

Adheres to all Collins rules and codes of conduct

Looks for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace

Provides continuous improvement ideas in order to support lean and ACE initiatives

May perform other job duties as required by the business and available for overtime as necessary

Inspect incoming purchased materials from suppliers and data for conformity to blueprints, specifications and standards.

Report inspection results and non-conforming conditions in appropriate forms or computer.

Identify product items as “accept” or “reject.”

Inform appropriate parties of abnormal situations.

When applicable, complete dimensional check and/or measurements using calibrated equipment or tooling according to checklists, blueprints, and standards.

Perform above on an entry level basis with moderate supervision.

Perform product inspection tasks per inspection procedures

Document inspection activities on appropriate inspection records

Maintain inspection records in an organized manner

Make decisions regarding product acceptance per product documentation and company workmanship criteria

Document product discrepancies per company procedures

Prioritize product inspection per schedule needs and FIFO processing

Understand & interpret design data (prints, Bill of Material, etc.)

Use proper inspection methods & equipment (inspection hand tools, surface plate, CMM, calipers/micrometers,etc.)

Support multiple product lines and/or commodities as applicable.

Answer quality & inspection questions

Maintain applicable skills, knowledge, & certifications as required

Inspect & measure required product design, manufacturing & quality characteristics per inspection analysis

Verify product per company specifications & certifications

Train other candidates as needed

Support company goals, Teamwork, Continuous Improvement

Support execution of company goals & product schedule needs

Assist in company quality initiatives, continuous improvement & problem solving Communication

Basic Qualifications:

1 year experience in manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace experience is a plus.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals and support groups, in person, via telephone, and in writing.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress.

Accuracy and attention to detail is highly important.

Basic to Intermediate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel may be required.

Safety glasses and other safety equipment are required depending on task.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including over forty hours a week as needed.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Reasoning Ability: (The level needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent
