We have an immediate need for a full time staff accountant to provide accounting operational support for our company. Candidates must be organized and detail-oriented, be able to work independently, and demonstrate the ability to be discrete. To be successful, this person will need to apply technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills. A minimum of 3 years of experience working for a Federal Government Contractor is a must. Experience required in Government Contracts and cost accounting in the following types of contracts: Cost Reimbursement, IDIQ, Competitive, CPFF, CPAF, Firm-Fixed Price. Experience on DHS contracting environment is plus. Experience with contracts administration and benefits administration would be a bonus.
Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the company owners
  • Spearhead the way we build our growing accounting section, which involves processes, systems, and policies
  • Prepare and present financials and associated reports
  • Maintain accounting procedures and controls and monthly accounting calendar
  • Support proposal activity and help to create pricing responses to RFP and RFQs
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Process payroll in-house and reconcile all tax liability accounts
  • Manage accounts payable, receivable, expense reimbursements and allocations, payroll, tax filing, and time tracking
  • Stay up to date on accounting and time-keeping systems to comply with DCAA regulations
Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate major in Accounting or related field
  • Must have good knowledge of general accounting theories, principles and practices with a solid knowledge of Government accounting.
  • Government contract accounting experience
  • Cost accounting standards and FAR/DFARs knowledge
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software package (required)
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • High proficiency in computers and standard office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with strong ethical values
  • Provide superior customer service to our employees, client, and partners
