The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate Mission Operations Planner/Scheduler (Level 2) to join our team in Herndon, Virginia. The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Overview:

The Associate Mission Operations Planner/Scheduler position will be a part of a high-performing team in a very dynamic environment. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to coordinate the near-term schedule for an operational system and support re-planning for contingency and emergency operations This position will support both planning and scheduling of activities performed for the operation of a complex real-time system. Candidates functioning in this role will be expected to have experience in de-confliction of system assets and resources for a 24x7 operational system. This position is not a master scheduler or MS Project type of position. It is a certified operations position which provides planning and scheduling functions utilizing custom software. This position works very closely with the customer and requires a professional and customer focused attitude.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Adjust to changing priorities, multiple demands and crises.
  • Obtain system operations certification; the certification required has knowledge based learning and on the job training provided.
  • Provide analysis and demonstrate attention to detail with work.
  • Work in a Windows environment.
  • Participate in the development of engineering processes, methods and tools.
  • Work under general supervision.


Work Authorization:

This position requires an active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain a Full Scope Polygraph post-start (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Experience working with engineering processes, methods and tools.
  • Experience working with Windows OS as an end user.
  • Willingness to work 12 hour rotating shifts
  • Ability to complete a certification program. Specialized training provided (combination self-study and on-the-job (OTJ) training) in order to learn the necessary skills allowing them to obtain the necessary certifications required for this position.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience working in a real-time operations environment.
  • Experience managing customer relationships.
  • Experience working in Mission planning and/or scheduling.


Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).
