Maxar is looking for a Geospatial Software Engineer. We use quick iteration and regular feedback to develop solutions for our customers to deliver capability in multiple disciplines. We create dynamic and flexible geospatial solutions that can be utilized in a wide variety of ways.

Day-to-day with your colleagues:

  • You'll be developing tools and utilities to manipulate Maxar 3D data (formerly known as VRICON).
  • You'll develop processes to calculate analytic products for 3D visualizations that represent real-world conditions.
  • You'll work on incorporating multiple data streams in a planning and common operating picture (COP) application, to include weather and real-time positional updates.
  • Documentation is important, so you'll work to update existing and develop new manuals for training.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, e.g. Computer Science, Systems Engineering, etc.
  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • Strong Python skills!
  • Recent experience with some of the following technologies:
    • Python and Anaconda;
    • Postgres;
    • GitHub or GitLab.
  • Experience with manipulating geospatial data.
  • Experience with Open Source Structure from Motion (SfM) tools and libraries.


Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with weather forecast data.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically frequent, iterative releases which rely on user feedback to refine features over time.
  • Experience and/or desire to grow into a leadership role.
