We are seeking an energetic, creative, and productive self-starter to serve as Hillel at Virginia Tech's Development Associate/Executive Assistant to help ensure that Hillel reaches its ambitious fundraising and programmatic goals. This professional will be supported in their efforts by the Director of Development who will be based in DC and locally by the Executive Director. The Development Associate will receive strong guidance, mentorship and input from the Development team to learn and grow in their role.

What youll bring to the job
A bachelors degree and fundraising experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Creative strategies and flexibility to work as part of a remote team, working with campuses and professionals in different places.
Availability to travel periodically.
In-depth training on all fundraising systems and processes, as well as regular supervision and mentoring.
Serve as first point of contact for the organization (phone/email/in person)
Office support provide administrative assistance to the Executive Director; support daily office operations, ordering office supplies, distributing mail, and working with vendors;
Prepare board materials for board meetings
Staff support assist programming staff with logistical needs for their programs, including online.
Human Resources assist with recruiting, onboarding new employees, benefits administration, and record keeping
Basic technology support maintain our basic office technology (computers, printers, network, phones) as needed
Assist with occasional events, as needed
A typical day as the Development Associate/Executive Assistant might include
Working closely with Executive Director to build an annual fundraising plan.
Teaming up with a campus Hillel professionals to coordinate a solicitation meeting.
Engaging a campus Hillel board member to plan a parlor meeting at their home.
Planning for an upcoming fundraising event or following up with individuals who recently attended an event.
Partnering with Virginia Tech and/or Hillel International colleagues on donor strategies.
Work collaboratively with Executive Director to ensure the team is hitting measureable goals and metrics set out in the development plan; set accountability for lay leaders and staff.
Pull lists with metrics and numbers for colleagues.

Required education, experience, and skills
Experience as administrative, HR, or office assistant/manager, or bookkeeper with administrative skills
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Gmail, LGL, and the capacity to quickly learn and master new software
Preferred but not required: Clean driving record and access to personal vehicle for work-related local travel
Bachelor's degree preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document procedures and draft error-free emails
Capacity to follow complex instructions and quickly learn new procedures and systems
Capacity to juggle competing priorities and deadlines; can work and stay flexible within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; efficient
Physical requirements
Ability to communicate via phone and email
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
