The University's ADA Coordinator helps to resolve issues, provides information and conducts training, and serves as the University's primary resource for questions and concerns about services and accommodations for individuals with disabilities, including third parties, students, faculty, staff, and employees at the University and the Medical Center. Access issues may arise in a variety of contexts, including with respect to the University's online presence, built environment, extracurricular activities, events, the classroom, parking and transportation, Grounds, and more.The Deputy ADA Coordinator will be a member of the University's Office for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights (EOCR) at https://eocr.virginia.edu/ and report to the ADA Coordinator. The Deputy ADA Coordinator will perform multiple duties and will assist the ADA Coordinator with providing ADA-related support, guidance, and assistance to faculty, staff, and students, in the Academic Division, the Medical Center, and, as needed, the College at Wise.The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have 4 years of relevant experience working in a higher education environment or a disability-related field in government, K-12, or other public/private organizations. The successful candidate will have familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and will have the ability to work with a wide variety of ADA-related issues and maintain confidentiality.The preferred candidate will possess knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology, including speech to text and knowledge of the reasonable accommodation process for employees and the academic accommodation process for students. The preferred candidate will have ADA experience in a higher education environment that includes a medical center. The successful candidate will also have experience in the following:

Website development experience

Knowledge of digital accessibility standards

Knowledge of 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design

Physical Demands:

Occasionally travel inside and outside of buildings, through parking lots, and parking garages to conduct accessibility assessments

Use a tape measure, pressure gauge, and level

Occasionally travel around and sometimes through work/construction sites
