About us: Tilmans is a wine and cheese bar and cafe on the downtown mall in Charlottesville, VA. We are a small locally-owned business with a passion for good cheese, great wine, and our community.
We focus on: our friendly and accessible wine bar, sandwiches and shared plates, cheese boards, catering, and retail wine and cheese
Job Description: We are looking for both full and part-time employees.
At Tilmans, there are multiple workstations, and each employee has a chance to perform in each of them. All staff members will work all areas of the business: cheese counter, kitchen, register, bar server, & food runner.
Candidates MUST be able to work nights and weekends.
Job Duties include:
Exceptional customer service.
Making and serving sandwiches, salads, small plates and cheese boards.
Ensuring proper execution of all menu items
Working with a panini press, convection oven, and meat slicer
Serving wine, beer, and cocktails at our bar
Cutting cheese & charcuterie to order, and helping customers select them
Prepare and artfully arrange catering trays
Running prepared foods to our pick-up counter, and to the outdoor patio area
Prepping food for sandwiches,salads,small plates, cheese board
Register duty
Keeping kitchen clean & sanitized, including washing dishes and glasses
General cleaning, food sanitation, and upkeep duties
Job Requirements
Must be 21 years old or older in order to serve wine & beer
Must be able to work nights and weekends
Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen & retail environment
Able to stand on your feet for long periods of time (6-8 hours)
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Proper knife skills and food prep experience is a plus
Knowledge of specialty food and wine is preferred, but not required
Availability on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
Compensation: Hourly: $9.50 plus tips. We average $15-$16 per hour
