Job Description:
Do you have a passion or curiosity about the transformation of grapes into wine? If so, then you need to apply for this exciting opportunity at Cunningham Creek Winery! We are seeking an enthusiastic Winemaker’s Assistant for the 2020 Harvest. A seasonal hourly opening, the position extends from late July through November 2020.
As Winemaker’s Assistant, you will work directly with our award-winning Winemaker to gain an understanding of all harvest and winemaking operations and work with over 8 different French varietals.
Responsibilities
Responsible for performing a variety of cellar operations including but not limited to:
Grape receiving activities
Wine/must movements and additions
Cap management practices (punch-downs and pump overs) and fermentation monitoring
Barrel activities (filling/racking/topping)
Equipment and tank sanitation
Data entry and record keeping
Understand and abide by safety guidelines and cellar procedures
Wine sampling, tastings with winemaking where possible
Other tasks as necessary
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License and clean DMV record required
Qualifications
Ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member in a fast-paced environment
Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to work long hours inside or outside
Ability to perform the physical labor is necessary, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Forklift driving helpful but not required
Previous winery experience is desired, but not required.
Background in chemistry, botany or viticulture is preferred, but not required.
Good reading, writing, and math skills preferred, computer skills or relevant coursework a bonus
Must be at least 18 years of age. (21 if you want to learn to taste and evaluate wine)
Wage information: Hourly including overtime, rate DOE
