Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
Our North Grounds Zone has multiple openings for Custodial Services Supervisors who are responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for the University Academic buildings. This position supervises up to 20 employees by performing safe critical housekeeping tasks. The incumbent maintains department expectations of providing high quality and consistent service by supervising, scheduling, and training the work force. The Custodial Services Supervisor maintains positive and professional relationships with facility occupants and staff, working in designated buildings throughout Grounds, comprised of academic and research buildings. The incumbent may be exposed to different contaminants, such as biohazard, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids. This position works around equipment/machinery, and includes standing on different surfaces, walking extensively, and climbing stairs.
This position will have the shift of Monday - Friday: 4:00PM to 12:30AM. Applicants must be able to work this shift. However, as a supervisor, the employee must be able to adjust schedule as needed to meet business needs.
A High School diploma or equivalent, as well as a valid drivers license with a positive points balance is required. A minimum of two years of experience in housekeeping or another service industry is required. Four or more years of experience in housekeeping, including ability to demonstrate use of cleaning equipment and supplies, with experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is highly preferred.
