Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

We are seeking an Electronic Door Technician who diagnoses, calibrates, repairs, installs, and modifies electronic and/or electro-mechanical equipment, usually of one specific type, not to the component level. Typical duties: Perform circuit analysis; calibrate equipment according to specified standards; remove and replace parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies; keep accurate records; order and stock replacement parts. Testing equipment used may include oscilloscopes, digital frequency meters, digital volt-ohm-meters, bend testing equipment. Schematic drawings are used as reference for some diagnostic and repair work. Some minor modifications to equipment may be made using hand and power tools, including wire strippers, soldering and de-soldering irons, and relay contact benders.

The Electronic Door Mechanic may be required to work on a call back status as needed.

A High School diploma or equivalent, as well as a valid driver’s license with a positive points balance is required. Current Electronic certification or Electronic door certification (AAADM) or the ability to obtain an AAADM certification within 9 months of hire is also required.
