Our facility takes great pride in being a part of the service continuum for individuals with psychiatric diagnoses. Although we are a long-term psychiatric facility, many do not know that we have a number of admissions and discharges annually. In 2018, Danville State Hospital had 73 admissions and 69 discharges. We are proud that we can improve the lives of our consumers allowing them to return to the community.We offer a competitive salary and great medical benefits including vision, dental and prescription, retirement options, vacation, sick, holiday and educational leave.DESCRIPTION OF WORKCustodial Workers are responsible and accountable for basic housekeeping needs of the hospital to provide a clean, comfortable sanitary environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. You will assist with pickup and delivery of laundry items sent to Correctional Industries throughout the institution on assigned days during the week - usually Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You will carry out the following tasks on and/or off the grounds of Danville State Hospital under the direct control and close supervision of the Custodial Work Supervisor.Read theposition descriptionfor more information.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYNo previous experience and training required, however work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person preferred. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
Be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
This position comes under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
Commonwealth employment requirement:
A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
