JOB DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE:

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy is seeking to hire an Elementary Physical Education Teacher who will organize lessons and activities that promote physical activity and fitness among children from kindergarten to sixth grade. The goal is to help students develop motor skills and exercise and eating habits in order to honor God with their bodies. Coaching opportunities may also be available.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and participates weekly in an evangelical, Bible-believing fellowship.

2. Thoroughly understands and whole-heartedly supports the statement of faith, educational philosophy, and standards of conduct of Mt. Carmel Christian Academy.

3. Enjoys teaching students and wants God to grow their minds, hearts, and bodies.

4. Must be 21 years of age and have some training or experience in physical education/fitness.

5. Is able to take responsibility and directives while being dependable and flexible.

6. Is able to maintain confidentiality.

7. Is able to communicate and interact well with other adults as a team player and humbly applies Scriptural principles to potential conflict situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Willingly cooperate with other teachers, school administration, and pastoral staff to preserve a Christ-centered, edifying, and harmonious atmosphere.

2. Attend all required MCCA staff functions, including teacher workdays, orientation, twice monthly staff meetings, and graduation ceremonies.

3. Construct different lesson plans for classes of different aged children to help them develop physical fitness and enjoy being physically active.

4. Provide an effective and stimulating learning environment that will motivate each student to be active.

5. Employ a system of grading and student assessment that will serve to provide each student and parents/guardians with an accurate appraisal of the students progress.

6. Maintain accurate records appropriate to the teaching assignment and submit promptly required reports, including student grades, attendance records, etc.

7. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly and productive learning environment.

8. Model effective teacher/parental partnering through timely communication with parents (e.g., posting of grades, conferencing).

9. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and initiative in the performance of all responsibilities.
